4 Simple Ways You Can Choose Joy

For some, the holidays bring a much-needed respite, while for others, this season is a reminder of loss or difficulty.

It can boost your immune system, improve your mental health, and increase your optimism. Look for new ways to show you’re grateful this season. Create a gratitude ritual, acknowledge someone publicly, or do someone a favor for free.
     
  2. Breathe deeply. Did you know that your breath can influence your happiness? Inhaling slowly and breathing deeply does more than keep you conscious – it also reduces stress and can lower your blood pressure.
     
  3. Limit how much you sign up for. Overcommitting during a busy season can leave you feeling stressed and frazzled. The added pressure is enough to keep you from enjoying these special moments with your family and loved ones. Keep a check on how often you say “Yes!” and protect your time (and sanity) as much as you can. Despite what you may be telling yourself – you deserve to enjoy this holiday season, too.
